Rain Dog: Robert Carlyle has been on the domains www.robert-carlyle.com and www.robertcarlyle.org under several years now and was originally started in June 20, 2003. I’ve run this site ever since and it used to be a bigger site back in 2003/2004 but because of lack of time I had to make it a smaller tribute. In December 2009 I decided that the internet needed a good source for Robert related things and I re opened a bigger site again.

I find that Robert is one of the most talented actors in the movie business today and that he’s a true inspiration. It’s nice to see that there is still actors who doesn’t care about the all too superficial movie business and seem to focus on acting as a profession and doesn’t take the “fame” part too seriously.

The site name Rain Dog came from Robert’s theatre company and originally from a Tom Waits album and song named the same. Tom Waits happens to be one of my big time favorite musicians as well.

The site is an unofficial fansite dedicated to the wonderful Scottish actor Robert Carlyle. We have detailed information and the latest news on Robert Carlyle and his career without intruding to Robert’s personal life. We have videos, a press library, interactives, photos and much more for you to enjoy!

Name: Mary
Interests: Movies, reading, animals, music, anything which lets me be creative
Favorite Robert role: Ravenous, Looking After Jo Jo and Trainspotting
Dream director for Robert: Neil Marshall, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch

I remember how I sneaked up in the nights as a child because I couldn’t sleep and I would watch movies that aired on TV. And I remember seeing Looking After Jo Jo (1998) and I was absolutely stuck with Robert, in a way I don’t know how to describe. And in some way in the following years of my childhood I saw several of his projects: Cracker (1994) with my dad on TV, The Full Monty (1997) together with my whole family and without my parents knowing, me and my brother saw Trainspotting (1996).

So you can say I have been following Robert’s career since my early years and if anyone asks me whom my favorite actor is, the answer is, without any doubt – Robert Carlyle. I think Robert has an amazing way to be able to play all kinds of characters, a versatility that is hard to find nowadays.

Throughout the years I think I’ve seen most of Robert’s work and this site is just a way to keep myself updated and help others to find information and the latest news on his career and my humble way to show appreciation.
